Looks like Urban Outfitters is getting political these days. The statements on the shirts are pretty lame, but at least they get your candidate affiliation across.



My only question is, why is the the same model voting for Hillary AND Obama? Oh, and who are you voting for? I can't vote for anyone because I'm just your friendly neighbour to the North. Don't mind me.

Girl With Great Style Alert!

I do not feel obligated to write about every stylish girl I see on the internet. But every time someone's style makes me do a double take, I know they deserve to be discussed. I'm sure all wardrobe remixers reading this are well aware of the presence of nemrešpobjećodnedjelje. All I can say is that it's people like her that makes me wish every piece in my closet was as eccentric as hers. Did I mention she thrifts nearly everything she wears? Amazing!

The knit coat looks incredibly cozy and the massive colourful scarf really reminds me of Giles Deacon's mile-long knits. Oh, and check out the sunglasses in the buttonhole. So cute!

My favourite part of this outfit is obviously the polka-dot tights. And that fanny-pack. Is it even a fanny-pack? It looks far too classy to be using such an offensive colloquialism.

I like the retro Mickey Mous/acid wash shirt, but I LOVE the purple tights. LOVE!

Very classy and simple, but not at all boring. The high waisted skirt brings it all together.

On the other hand, this look is quite messy (maybe just the hair?), but she absolutely pulls it off. Perhaps it's just because She reminds me of Courtney Love in this picture? I should really shut up about Courtney Love. Either way, I like the pink shirt.

Everyone Loves Susie Bubble.

Joy, wonder and a million resounding 'yipee's! I am ecstatic to report that Susie Bubble has created an extension of Style Bubble, called Style Bubble Daily Wear which chronicles her outfits every day. I cannot think of anyone whose clothes I want to marvel in on a daily basis. Susie is totally a fashion pioneer.

There aren't too many posts on there yet, but I've chosen my three favourite outfits to post here because I am so utterly hyped!

Spring 08 Couture: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

These are my one word first impressions of most of the collections.

I don't even think this Martin Margiela wolf stole thing had anything to do with Spring 08 Couture, I just needed an excuse to post it. I've never seen anything so weird!

Christian Lacroix Couture Spring '08

My kingdom for Lacroix couture...I love the volume and patterns throughout the whole collection. Try as they might, lace and polka dots will never bore me.

I would totally wear this outfit to school, and people would give me funny looks but they'd all be totally jealous inside because I'm wearing couture and they are not.

The detailing is a bit military-style but the skirt and jacket are so feminine. I do love a contradiction...

Mmm, frothy lace. It's like a fashion milkshake. I simply must mention the shoes before I forget - aren't they divine?

This dress is unforgettably ridiculous, and that I why I love it.

After all, it's couture so why not be as ridiculous as possible?

Jeez, boat shoes.

Boat shoes are a strange and polarizing item of footwear. I myself have hated them for a long time, until I flipped through an L.L. Bean catalogue about a week ago. (Yes, my family receives the L.L. Bean catalogue. I got a Fair Isle sweater from it two year ago - don't judge!)My immediate stream of consciousness went a little like this: "Oh look, its those ugly boat shoes again. I would only wear them if I was an arrogant New England preppy guy named Chase. Hey wait, those boat shoes look like the sturdier version of moccasins. I LOVE moccasins! Maybe I would wear those normally? I think I just lost all punk rock credentials..."

And that is precisely how my attitude towards boat shoes softened up a little. I probably won't be buying a pair any time soon, but if a magical fashion fairy offered me a pair for free, there's no way I would refuse. Then I would wear them to a punk rock show (not that there are any good ones around here), because wouldn't it be so PUNK ROCK to wear preppy shoes at a venue where everyone else is wearing Converse or Doc Martens? I'll save my Doc Martens for the next time I'm yachting, thank you very much.

Hurry Hard!

I was blessed by the thrift Gods yesterday. After pawing through some thoroughly underwhelming stock, I stumbled upon a cardigan. It wasn't just any cardigan, this one was special. It was bright blue and had Curling Club patches all over it. It was clear to me that a man named 'John Watts' (as the name on the arm patch reads) had worn this to every Toronto curling practice he attended way back in the 1960s.
Here it is, in all its glory:

You Make My Day

Hurrah! I have singlehandedly been tagged for making the day of Strawberry Milkshakes and Stararah, who are both pretty awesome. Naturally, I am quite flattered. I think I'm supposed to tag 10 people, but most of the blogs I read on a regular basis have already been tagged. That is a good thing because it means that everyone in the blogosphere is on an optimism trip, but it also means that I can't fulfill my 'duties' properly because of it.

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Yes, you heard me. Actually you probably heard it already - Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony! I was never a huge fan of hers until I found out what a little grunger she was in the early/mid-nineties. What she has designs certainly does not betray her origins either, since she modelled this collection after what she would have wanted to wear as a teenager growing up in Darien, Connecticut.

The plaid dress is absolutely marvelous, and the shoes? They simply MUST be inspired by Vivienne Westwood.

Judging by the neon logo, I thought the clothes would be a bit more colourful. Much to my joy, that is not the case. I love the grey. I love the high waists. I love the clean silhouettes. I love that dress with the sheer back.

Heck, I even love the ripped tights!

I propose that the next big hairstyle trend should be shaving half of it off, a la Alice Dellal.

Unfortunately, you need a six figure trust fund account and a Burberry modeling campaign aside Kate Moss to be able to pull this look off...I love you, Alice!

Ladies of a Certain Age

I always wonder what my clothes will look like after I hit 50. Will I tone down my style and become an impeccable, conservatively dress woman? Or will I continue to wear age-innapropriate clothing after I am way over the hill. Older ladies with great style are few and far between. That is why I have been near stalking the flickr account of 'middleagedteacher', who is (obviously) middle aged and still looks amazing.
Not a lot of younger people could pull off a skirt with a big face on it, but she does it effortlessly. Love the plum shoes as well!

This outfit looks subdued at first glance, but then you notice the lovely print on the skirt. And wait a second, are those leopard print leggings peeking out underneath?

This oufit is pure class.

I think the yellow plastic earring, the leopard scarf and green top look great together. They totally clash, but some sort of magical ambience brings it all together. I don't what it is.

Like a fine wine or cheese, some things just get better with age.

The Great Fur Conundrum

Rhiannon posted something thought-provoking and really got me thinking about pro/anti-fur arguments. I myself am anti-fur. Not even for animal rights reasons, either. I just think that wearing the obvious remains of a dead animal is creepy and far too ostentatious. I don’t even like the way fake fur looks! Now, with that being said I don’t mind leather, because it is visually less obvious to me that you are wearing a dead animal. Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite because I hate fur and like leather all while eating a primarily vegetarian diet (allowing for the rare sushi binge, that is). What are your opinions on wearing fur?

Musicals are cheesy. So are sweaters.

My Fair Lady is getting rave reviews - thank you for all the "break a legs" and sweet comments on my costume! It is all so much fun!

Cheesy sweaters are almost as fun as acting. I totally admire everyone who can pull off a cheesy sweater without looking dumb. If you think only frumps wear kitten sweaters, then you should check this out. Scarves, kittens and Converse are a match made in Wardrobe Remix heaven.

This Wardrobe Remix outfit may not include a cheesy sweater, but it is awesome nonetheless. The clashing stripes and button leg warmers are a combination to be marveled at... The style! The wonder!

My Fair Lady!

My Fair Lady promises, no, threatens to be an amazing high school musical. The acting is great, the sets are intricate, the songs are pretty good and the costumes are fantastic. This is my maid costume. Nothing too exciting, but I certainly rock that ruffled cap!

Ooh, my costume in the Acsot scene is great. I decorated the hat with tulle and birds all by myself!

Yes, I am wearing my Ascot dress in the ballroom scene. Isn’t it lovely? It is vintage from the 1950s - my mom found it in my Grandma’s closet then replaced the layers of tulle on the skirt and added the band of rhinestones around the bodice.

What can I say? It’s going to be a really big shoe. Tommorrow is opening night!

I'm So Tired by the Beatles

School has got me running quite ragged now, with numerous performances of 'My Fair Lady' this week and exams next week. It's enough to make a girl fall asleep in class and forget to blog. I just want to cozy up in one of these sweaters from American Apparel so I can feel exceptionally comfortable while remaining reasonably fashionable.


I'm still not tired enough to reverse my anti-Ugg postion, though.
